Tennessee State Board CME Requirements

Basic requirement for physicians

  • 40 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ or equivalent biennially
    • 2 of which must be on controlled substance prescribing, which must include instruction in the Department’s Chronic Pain Guidelines on opioids, benzodiazepines, barbiturates and carisoprodol and may include topics such as medicine addiction, risk management tools and other topics approved by the Board

Basic requirement for physicians – DO

  • 40 AOA Category 1A or 2A Credits™ or equivalent biennially
    • 2 of which must be on prescribing practices
