Massachusetts State Board CME Requirements

Basic requirement for physicians

  • 50 hours earned from an organization accredited by the ACCME, AOA, AAFP, or a state medical society recognized by the ACCME biennially
  • The following content-specific CME must be completed:
    • 2 credits in end-of-life issues, as a one­ time requirement
    • 3 credits in opioid education and pain management if the physician prescribes controlled substances
    • 10 credits in risk management
    • 3 credits in electronic health records
    • Child abuse and neglect training required under state law
    • Domestic violence and sexual violence training required under state law
