Basic requirement for physicians – 1st Renewal – MD
- If you are renewing your license for the first time you are exempt from the general CME requirement and are only required to complete 2 hours of preventing medical errors and 1 hour of HIV/AIDS.
Basic requirement for physicians – Subsequent Renewals – MD
- 38 CME hours biennially
- 2 CME hours in each of the following topics
-
- Medical error
- Domestic violence
- Controlled substance prescribing
- 1 CME hour in human trafficking

Basic requirement for physicians – 1st Renewal – DO
- 40 CME hours biennially, 20 of which must be AOA Category 1-A
- All 1st time renewals whose license was issued subsequent to July 1, of the second year of the biennium must complete the following required courses

- 1 live attendance hour of Florida laws and rules/professional and medical ethics
- 2 live attendance hours of prevention of medical errors
- 1 hour of human trafficking
- All 1st time renewals whose license was issued prior to July 1, of the second year of the biennium must complete the following required courses

- 1 live attendance hour of Florida laws and rules/professional and medical ethics
- 2 live attendance hours of prevention of medical errors
- 2 hours of prescribing controlled substances for licensees registered with the DEA
- 1 hour of HIV/AIDS
