‘Personal Finance for Women: Smart Money for Life’ course presented by American Physician Institute features 12+ hours of training and an interactive session with Stephanie McCullough of Sofia Financial
Helping professional women make wise financial decisions is the goal of “Personal Finance for Women: Smart Money for Life,” a new online course by financial planner Stephanie McCullough. McCullough, founder and CEO of Sofia Financial, brings 26 years of experience in financial planning and wealth management to the 4-day, 12-hour online course.
The course is presented by American Physician Institute, which for more than two decades has been providing high-yield continuing education presented by knowledgeable experts and designed to be the most convenient and effective way to meet the career needs of practicing physicians and clinicians.
McCullough said the course aims “to answer the pressing questions professional women face when they’re making financial decisions.” She said the goal of the course is not “just about the money” but rather about giving women a sensible, comprehensive approach to managing their finances.
“If more women were financially secure and exercised their economic power, the world would be a better place,” McCullough said. “Our non-judgmental, truly holistic approach to money management will help women build confidence, resilience, and joy in their lives.”
Data shows the financial services industry remains male-dominated – only around 20 percent of financial advisors in America are women.
“The industry is ill-equipped to have the types of conversations that are meaningful for women,” McCullough said. “It’s not just about the numbers, it’s about how finances affect our lives. This course is a way to make space for women to have that conversation.”
The experience is tailored to provide answers to financial planning questions that are unique to professional women.
“Women in general face a host of financial challenges that their male counterparts do not, including lower earnings, longer longevity, and often taking time out of the workforce to provide care,” McCullough said.
According to McCullough, women in all professions and from all income groups can have trouble managing their income, which can create a major roadblock to financial success.
“While women medical professionals have the benefit of healthy incomes, that alone does not guarantee financial success,” she said. “One barrier to feeling confident around money is that no one teaches us how to navigate the financial world – not our colleges, graduate programs, or even our families. And it’s still taboo to talk about with our friends.”
The online course begins on May 24 and continues with sessions on May 31, June 7, and June 14. The initial session will include an introduction to “money mindset,” with the training aimed at helping participants understand the key questions they need to ask of themselves and others to make wise financial decisions.
Special guest presenter Kathleen Burns Kingsbury, wealth psychology coach and founder of KBK Wealth Connection, will join the discussion with negotiation training, and content will also focus on the psychology of wealth management.
“Planning for your financial future is not only about the math – money is emotional. It’s tied to all the most intimate parts of our lives,” McCullough continued. She said it is important to learn “how to negotiate to get what you want in life” and for women to understand “the human, emotional, behavioral side of money management.”
The 12+ hour program costs $497. Participants who sign up before May 24 will receive a $300 discount by using the code FIN300 at checkout, lowering the cost to $197. For more information or to sign up for the seminar, visit MasterPsych.com/personal-finance-for-women
